Bamboo Strips are young shoots of bamboo reeds that are sliced and pickled. The light yellow flesh is a little fibrous and crunchy and tastes a bit like asparagus. Bamboo is a popular stir-fry vegetable for dishes like chop suey, vegetable curries, and soups. Bamboo strips are also indispensable in sukuyaki, a Japanese stew.
 
Nεαροί βλαστοί καλαμιών μπαμπού που κόβονται σε φέτες και γίνονται τουρσί. Η ανοιχτο-κίτρινη σάρκα τους είναι λίγο ινώδης αλλά και τραγανή και έχει γεύση σαν σπαράγγι. Κομμένο σε λωρίδες. Χρησιμοποιείται στη μαγειρική όπως σε stir-fries, μόνα τους, με νουντλς, κρεατικά, θαλασσινά, λαχανικά.
